That would be you. My old man goes to Canada a couple times a year and he visited Canada and returned without a passport the summer after 9/11.
What it says on the governments website and their actual policies are not always the same.
Maybe you can C&P an article for us of a US citizen being stranded in Canada because they wouldn't let them cross with a birth certificate and an ID. Surely there must be one out there if this was their actual policy.
