Oofffda. Rough day. Only shot one. Simply could NOT get on a good sneak. Literally knocked on 10 people's doors and nobody was home or they saw the camo and Minnesota plates and just didn't answer. But there was about 12 mile wide strip that was thick was birds and it was spotty outside it. Waaaaaayyyyyy more birds than Friday tho.

Also, I wish the Jim Crow era laws were still in affect for spring light goose season. The darks and the whites were mixing waaaay too much.

And why I am not a fan of sneaking and flock shooting ( I'm not saying you are doing this). But I have seen the aftermath of ducks, Honkers, Specks laying dead/crippled in a slough from an illegal sneak in SD. On a Thursday, I had arranged with the farmer to hunt that Sat AM and we were to hunt together as he never had been Snow hunting before, I figured we'd have a blast - literally. I stopped by Friday afternoon to check on the roost and the above is what I found. Needless to say he was NOT at all happy.

Yah if someone goes somewhere illegally good chance they aren't gonna care about being species specific.

But were def sneaking, or trying too. We werent spraying into mixed flocks tho. The one we actually shot today was on a pass shoot errrrr shot really. We hid in a rockpile between a flock on water and flock land had some transfer over low enough to shoot at. Of course we only got one and the shot scared all birds up all over leaving none to transfer at that point.

Just got home...we were picked up by 9:30 pm and decided to just drive home. Birds were not flying with the strong winds Sat afternoon...only shot 2 more. Another fun but frustrating trip. 24 birds 2 banded. Only 2 juvies and we were we of Jamestown about 30 miles.

^^^^ That simply can not be! As everyone knows that you have to set out at least 600 decoys to effectively hunt Snows!

The birds that are left that are south of 212 are dumb as bricks. I walked right up to one flock of 20 or so and shot 7 while scouting friday night.

Really wish we would have scouted SD harder...but we learned a lot about the tail end of the migration. Between Jamestown and Ellendale it was almost all adults still...with heavy migration of adults in mornings and afternoons. Pretty much zero birds flying mid day. It was hard to find birds driving around, but sitting in the fields in the morning they really came out of the woodwork. Yesterday we were in Lamoure and a lot of adults coming from the south. Next year we know I guess. May even try to go to ND in a couple weeks again
