Maplelake, it still sounds like you had good time. IMO, it is a learning experience every time that you go out.
Every spring seems to be different.

Yeah, everyone in the group has been a little frustrated the last couple years cause we had good hunts on adults the first 2 years decoying. But we hunted in snowstorms both those years. Last 3 years have been a little slower with 20-30 birds shot each year. It would help if we got out for more than a 4 day weekend once a year. But its always a good time aside from the severe sleep deprivation haha.

Anybody still plan on making it out yet this year?

Chuck I thought you'd be out there these last few days, or are you out in SD right now?

I think I'm puttin the plug back in the gun this weekend. I'm going home for Easter, probably not gonna be much around the weekend after that, and even so, sneaking is a garbage way to hunt more than a few weekends a year and I'm kinda burned on it.

Time to start saving up for some socks I suppose.

No, I'm not going to make it back out again. I wish that my schedule would have permitted another hunt. Oh well, there is next fall.

Right now I'm getting ready to replace windows, siding, soffits, and doors from our storm damage last summer. I just about have everything lined up.

I'm really itching to get out again. Never gone more than once a season. I may try and go next week/weekend...just depends on if we are going turkey hunting or not. Usually go with my Dad and his buddy but they really haven't gotten into it...so that may free me up to just buy a license OTC for the NW metro later in the year and get out snow goosin one more time.

One of my buddies in our group has a friend that guides. He went out last weekend in southern SD for a fun hunt and they got 250 birds...just rubbing salt in our wounds that we made the choice to go north instead of south. Its so hard to resist that urge when not seeing birds.

Juvi hunting takes a deep pocket for gas, the patience to find them, and 1 part luck.
