The MO hunt that was to be this week is now going to happen next Tues-Thurs. It is with a guide service. One of my buddies bailed, so there is likely a spot or 2 open.

I wish I had the extra dough as I'd love to head to MO. :(

We were about a mile north of some dbag guide service that had every gadget and gizmo that a snow goose nerd could ever dream of, pretty sure they got skunked. All the guides were packing up and heading back to Arkansas to hunt the juvies that they need in order to be able to decoy.

I bet by the end of this month the birds will be in and around SoDak. Maybe even a little north of there. Some south, but fewer than whats north.

We need some photos to get us excited.

Trigger, what was the secret to your success compared to the guides?

I am going with First Flight Finishers (Adam Johnson).

Whenever hunters average over 10 birds a day per person over decoys, that is VG hunting. Well done.

That is very likley.

Here's my take based on the temp forcasts.
NW Mo will be covered by Snows this Weekend with the highs in the 60s. Considering 4 days ago they had 9 for a high.
I think the leading edge will be into SD this coming Monday. But the main SD bread and butter hunting will start 1.5 weeks from now.
And with the minimal Snow cover in Western SD and ND, there could be scout flocks in Bismarck in 2 weeks that follow the MO river up. Bismarck is to have a few days of 50s 1.5 weeks from now.
There is still a fair amount of snow in Eastern ND N of I-94 which will act as a dam to the migration.
But there is always the wild card that any veteran Snow hunter knows about, and rookies need to consider--a blizzard/s popping up in the next few weeks time.

Good luck gentlemen.

Last year we had a 200 bird weekend and the next weekend was a 8"+ blizzard. That was around the 13th of April. If I remember correctly, maplelake was out there in that one?
