Who is still hunting ducks?

Mon Nov 25, 2013 11:59 am

Myself I am done for the year unless I win lotto and can head south. The small lakes near me are now frozen over this past weekend and I have soft aliminum hull on the boat--meaning it's not an ice breaker at all. So that's all she wrote for me.

How about you? Are you still getting out to hunt the ducks? Are you getting any?
.
God, help me be the man that my dog thinks that I am.

I'm done unless I find someone down south with an open spot. Ducks left my area a few weeks ago. Of course there are a few here or there but my spots are all froze over.
It was a heck of a season for me so I was quite content with sitting the last weekend out. Don't know I can ever repeat this one.

I'm still making a go of it. Yesterday my son and I shot
6 birds. Today I'm staring at empty skies. Unless you count the
7 Coots that keep wanting in my decoys. It's just not like other years.
Ask Al how to successfully nest wood ducks, see you next season.

Tuff, Tuff day. Ended with a drake red head, goldeneye and a big bull can. Although the can dove once and I never saw him again. Pretty much empty skies. Saw very few mallards.

I'm thinking I'm going to set a couple of tip ups out tomorrow and try for some northern. Don't worry not going to walk on the ice, but the docks at the marina. Then ducks the rest of the week.

Friend just told me that people are pulling spear houses out with wheelers up by the Fergus area.

Sent from under your sister.

Hoping to get another one or two good hunts in this weekend in the SW corner of the state.

Visited gf's family in the cities this weekend and on the way home there was a handful of people ice fishing north of Brownton already. Rumor has it a few smaller lakes have 3" here too already.

Done with ducks myself, hoping to get one or two hunts in for geese yet but we will see.

Actually looking forward to ice fishing this year, can't wait to see the lakes start to lock up around here
