Snows

Tue Mar 10, 2015 11:17 am

Anybody been out yet?

Think my buddies are giving up on it this year. I only have one other buddy to ask and hes in the doghouse with his wife so doubt he can go. May have to resort to taking the GF, my Dad and brother, or possibly take some work clients out. Would like to try and go 2-3 trips this year.

What are your plans for going out?

This really warm weather has given me quite the itch for it this week. I might try Thurs/Fri for an initial trip and a couple after that.

Lots of geese heading high and north on Monday from a friends hunting S of I-90. Poor hunting as nothing was low.

Basically there is no snow "dam" in SD to stop the geese from heading north, I suspect by today some Snows will be crossing into SK Canada. Mid 40s to 60s is forecasted for Devils lake the next 5 days.

If I was going I'd head for ND. And here is why: http://www.nohrsc.noaa.gov/snow_model/i ... idwest.jpg And in a few days the line will be in Canada.

Good luck gentlemen.

Haha yeah go to ND and do some bird watching. Sounds like fun. We aren't even setting a spread here in SD until Friday afternoon. Just because the adults that spent half the winter in Nebraska decided to blow through SD, doesn't mean that it's over. This is great for decoying in SD. Very few hillbillies in Z71's prowling the township roads hacking into every flock within 500 yards of the road.

Yeah I've learned that even at the tail end and everybody says most birds are gone...its still mainly adults around. I'm no longer nervous about missing the migration.

My group left this morning for the south east corner of Nebraska for a three day hunt. I bailed this year. I just cant be the all american sportsman and have a daughter and finish a basement..........
