Westerly winds always bode for Mn waterfowl hunters.

Today's a perfect day to be out hunting.

Was anyone out today to see if there were any birds riding the wind down?

My sask trip scheduled for next week got pushed back a week due to family health issues so I'm thinking about taking the morning off and hitting my diver lake tomorrow.

A buddy of mine found a gob of Ringers this morning and we are trying it in the morn. Of course the weather is changing to calm & clear tomorrow morning so who knows how they'll fly.

Set up for honkers in a cornfield near the iowa/sodak line this morning. had flocks of Canada's, specks, gadwall, teal, divers, and mallards fly over up high and headed south. We lost a fair amount of wigeon and pintail this week on the water bodies I've been scouting.

Missed the morning but it felt right. 1 red head this afternoon, not much "new" that started in the Ottertail area.

My perfect migration weather is... Clear sky over night, light NW wind about 10-15mph. That usually puts some really dumb birds in the decoys at first light.

That wind switching to a south wind at 5 mph around the middle of the night can make for some good late mornings.

Thanks for the reports guys. I didn't make it out. I'm still playing catch up from missing work from being on Cheese tour. Haven't hunted much this year, feels weird.
