Ducks!

Wed Oct 21, 2015 10:55 pm

Or at least a duck, which I killed. Hen red head, I don't discriminate in gender typically.

Anyone, anyone...... kill something?

Hunted Tues. morning about hr. west of cities. Never fired a shot......except for the volley I ripped across the slew before left to see if any ducks got up...Nothing! Talked with couple others out that morning on different lake and they shot a couple divers ,but said it was real slow.

Pass shot 3 wood ducks and a greenwing from shore yesterday before work in the general area of the metro. That was thanks to good shooting, not lots of ducks. Only saw 20 or so ducks all morning.

Pulled a 0 the last 2 mornings. Geese never showed up yesterday. The few local ducks around seem stale. South central MN.

Saw more ducks in my metro passshooting hole than the other day. More mallards, still some woodducks. Was looking the wrong way on my 2 good chances, tested my skills on some tall ones- failed.

Saw good numbers yesterday up north, 3 ring necks and a gwt. Had another ring neck dive on me and was shooting old shells and had a couple clicks when I pulled up on flocks. Should have had a limit, only hunted 2 hrs

drove around tonight all over hell. glassed 7 different spots. saw some ruddy ducks at one spot. that's it. this was covering a 20 mile area, saw a few random flocks of geese that seemed to be flying with out purpose. saw 10 geese in a field. I bet money that if I take the same drive in 2 days there will be way more fowl in the area. its getting to be that time.

Every little pond I drove by on my way out bow hunting last night had mallards sitting on it...haven't seen that all year. Right now is go time
