There's tons of birds still, tons of open water. Wish it would have gotten colder sooner to group them up a bit by this time, they are still kind of spread out. Still tons of geese to be had at least

Insane field hunting action for mallards on Friday. Decoyed groups of 100+ right to your feet. I took my brother-in-law who has never field hunted before. He is now hooked! Unless we get 4+ inches of snow today these birds will stick around for a long time with no cold in the forecast.

I am going to try the river on Wednesday. I don't expect much but we shall see.

I was in MN thurs-sun. Finding mallards wasn't a problem, but finding birds that left the roost befoe sundown was. Got a few mid morning feeders and a couple flocks of migrating Canada's on Friday. Judging by the amount of geese i saw rolling down 59, LQP has to be stacked with birds now.

The flight Friday was weird for us. We had a good honker flight in the morning but only saw a few flocks of mallards. Around 2:00 we saw flock after flock after flock of mallards in big groups until sunset. The honker feed at night was much less.

Only hunted Friday, I had family stuff Saturday and Sunday. I've had a great season and I'm done.

In prior lake we only got an inch or two of snow, too warm it actually rained Monday night. A few mallards might push out but we will have awesome numbers of birds until close.

8" = game over. SW MN needs the snow, heavy wet will help with run off.
