Canadians and swans are on the move. A little early, but a lot of the fields are wide open with no snow.

So then GNB you must have seen the MB and ON lic plates on their vehicles driving back north, eh? :D

I think a LOT of geese will be moving north on Sat.

During 1 of the brown/warm winters in the '90s I saw paired up Canada's Feb 15th. That is the earliest I remember seeing them. From my perspective, anything before March 1 is an early migration and Spring. And anything after April 1st is a late migration/spring.

I was in ND last weekend and saw a fair amount of darks heading north or sitting on the ice Saturday. Sunday morning we woke up to freezing temps and a light snow, all birds were gone.

The honkers and swans showed up today in the west metro.

Very sketchy ice already. I encountered a 40 x 100' area of open water. Had several places of minimal ice--meaning 2 hits with the ice chisel and it went through, as I was trying to do nest and box checks. Yet I saw a small truck on Medicine lake this afternoon.

Are you talking about the SUV at the landing in Wayzata from 2 days ago? Or something else?

Lots of sketchy ice on the shoreline where the cattails are. Frankly I think there never was more than 6" of ice where the snow settled in.

I saw lots of Canada geese migrating NW today in the afternoon. Mostly flocks of 15-50 that were 75 -150 yds up.
