I understand MLDS. As that is what I really miss about my dad, just spending time with him. I didn't care for the firearm deer season starting about 30 years ago after I was filling the other guys tags (shot 10 deer in 3 yrs time) and frankly that took the enjoyment out of deer hunting for me. But I went occasionally after that as that is what my Dad wanted to do. I have no regrets doing adventures that were at best just OK adventures for me, but it was his thing, so went with it. I have no regrets.

Most all the Woodies and BWTeal are now gone locally, like in I have not seen a single one loafing on a pond in a few days time. But I did see some Ringbills, Buffies, and Scaup though on the bigger ponds.

I saw two old squaw today which is a first for me for inland waters of mn. Several scoters as well but that is common for this lake. Could have shot a couple hen scoters but let em pass because they taste so awful. Bluebills still haven't showed up in numbers. I'm starting to wonder if the guys that have been rallying the last couple years have screwed the lake up. Looks like we are gonna have another season where it closes before the golden eye hunting really heats up. It's been a few years since we've had a good whistler shoot. Plenty around just not concentrated.

The temps are supposed to get back to normal by next weekend as the jet stream is finally supposed to buckle back down over the US.

For S MN, it looks like we'll actually be able to hunting after Thanksgiving. But it's supposed to be 15 T day morning. By Dec 1st it'll be froze up if the forecast is correct.
