It is not ideal for timber value, but helps critters out. It up's your acreage tonnage of food for deer. If you really want to get fancy guys will keep them up off the ground enough to give deer bedrooms. Lol I ain't done that yet. Key word yet. The one pic has 2 stumps done right a and 2 that broke off, that ain't right.

Hobbydog posts pictures of deer. GnB posts pictures of trees he can't cut down.
Pretty cool. Miss having my property to at least imagine at some point we'd manage more actively. I was big on meadow succession but the old man couldn't stand a meadow unmowed, totally depleted the value of the clear cut for deer. The grouse, however, showed up in high numbers whenever we mowed..... fish in a barrel.
