I took a walk on the back forty today, hoping to jump some ducks along the river. No ducks, but still plenty of mosquitos. If there is only one in the state, it will find me. I can't wait until our first hard freeze or two.

They got killed off out here but with the warmer temps there's been a few buzzing around again. Stupid

In the blind tonight more mosquitos than wind. Could have really used some wind. Could have really done without mosquitos.

I hear you Steve. I have Geraniums still growing in their pots. But I did cover then twice when it got close to 32. But normally they are done 2 weeks ago, and the weather looks warm for at least another week.

Next thing we know, the deer hunters will be talking about how the mosquitoes were impairing their hunting. "I swatted a Mosquito and then I saw the buck running full speed away from me..." LOL But that's got to better than the 2' of snow I dealt with 25 years ago while deer hunting after the Halloween blizzard.

Did a bunch of hinge cutting and brush hogging up by Meadowlands Friday through Tuesday. Wow the bug's were everywhere. Got bit by numerous skeeters. Bears are still very active. Wolf numbers are down significantly. Deer numbers are up significantly. So are hunter numbers it seems like. Only one guy hunting, so he should have a lot of country to himself. Buck to doe ratios look very good. Once the cooler weather gets here the hunting should be pretty good.

Basically you cut a tree, leaving a third or so attached and fell it with a strip of the tree still attached to keep the crown alive and growing for winter browse.
