I wonder if the Signets Swans hatched a week ago on the nest in the slough off to the south side of the Hwy 101 bridge in Shakopee? Because yesterday the nest is gone and the cattail it was in is under water with the MN river flooding this week.

But man, the pulse beats a bit when those honks start echoing.

Come hang out at my place, you'd have full on wood since they barely clear the trees in the yard coming and going from these ponds across the road from me. Sure was quiet till the kids showed up. Now even the nesting pairs are all worked up.

Last week I saw newly hatched Woodie ducklings crossing the road in Orono so they are still hatching.

With this mornings storm, I lost a 24" dia main limb of 1 of my 6 Basswood trees. Here it is the tree that the Wood ducks have been nesting in the last few years in its crotch. Damn it anyhow! :( it is on top of my shed (top of roof is lower right of the one photo).

likely due to what is left of the tree is leaning so much, the entire tree will have to come down so it does not crash onto the electric wires and house.

The ones by my place require management. Between them and Ash they dominate the Maples and are very photo-advantaged, able to grow at angles into open spaces.

Al, saw your post on the FB site looking for tree help, let me know how they work out. I need to thin the forest before my house/she'd look like what you're dealing with.

A 60' tall part has to come down, main electrical wire 20' away from trunk and limbs out the the wire, kennel 25' away, and no further damage to the shed, etc. oh and there is a main hinged "hanger" 18' up and 2 other trees need to be climbed to remove the "widow makers" hanging up 30+ ' in the air that broke off because of the tree coming down.
