I think about that every time I drive from Hutch to Montevideo. I don't think there is a single pothole, marsh, slough etc. . . .none. Not until you get into town across from the McDonalds that LOADS up in the fall with honkers and a few mallards. If you build it they will come.

You urban and ag "prairie" ( ) dwellers might as well be in Iowa.

Judging by the use, the water ponds on 212 in Chanhassen are quality habitat, at least until the salt and run off kill them.

^^^ And I noticed lots of broods on them today.
Actually saw today what I'd consider a 4 of 5 scale hatch locally for this spring, lots of little ones this year! Saw ducklings from a week old to about 8 weeks old.

I found out why 2 of my combos had fell over - the nuts are almost gone due to corrosion as they pulled through the predrilled holes of the posts, The grade 8 5/16" nuts were almost gone. WTF? 1 was 6 yrs old the other 11 yrs old. Both locations have that fluffy loon shit of a bottom where I had to use 3 posts.

Also today Rescued 2 MHN wire portion where the 10 - 3/4" poultry staples had pulled out. :(
.
God, help me be the man that my dog thinks that I am.

Al, saw your 101 Bridge swans today. They had a load of ducks hanging with them.

There are usually a pile of woodies in the area, last year I think I counted 10 broods of woodies.

With older kids and a later bus schedule I can hunt weekdays this fall when I'm in the Cities.

Have a guy that knows a spot in the Valley. His work schedule changed and he owes me a favor.

Challenge will be if his success reports are full of smoke or he's actually putting meat in the table.
