The other night I had a flock of Canada's go flying by me. But it was July 14th, usually they are still molting. I wonder with the early spring if the molting was early too?

Are any of you seeing the geese fly yet? Or what I saw was it just an oddball flock?
It's on folks!!

Hearing some group's of geese moving along the mn river the last couple nights.

Kinda nice to hear again since the 6 cattail sloughs across the road have been oddly quiet the last month or so.

Is that earlier than average when compared to past years?

Maybe as it takes 2 months after hatching for ducklings to be able to fly.

Ive shot blue wing teal and woodies in November which makes me think they got left behind. I shot a single woodie last year on Nov 8th.

IMO based on Snow geese and the window of opportunity they have to migrate, (most all 2nd attempt goslings in the high Arctic do not make it) they need to be at least 3 months old to have a chance to endure the migration up in the Arctic. But down here, they could do much shorter legs of the migration by Nov 1st.

For it to be a late hatched duckling in Nov it'd be in molt colors yet, Where as most of the ducks are at or getting to full plumage.

Morning starting to feel good with Drew points/temps. Starting to get the fall feel and smell now that the fields and woods are mature.

Noticed oaks are starting to drop mast this weekend.
