Been a year of little hunting, but good to at least get out this past weekend.

That NW Mn? Lots of flat land in MN, but that soil looks Marshall/Clay county type stuff.

It is West Central MN. A brand new WPA, that was not even on my map yet. Made me question it for a while, but parked right next to a WPA sign that looked like it was going to be a future parking spot so I figured we were fine. Got to the pothole Sat morning and didn't plan for ice but ran into it. The extra 20 min that it took me to break it up to setup decoys and where we were going to stand and put dog cost us big time. My dad had my pup on a lease waiting for me and they were both going nuts because the ducks were everywhere right away. As soon as pup hopped into his blind, and I was just about to load my gun a group of about 20 mallards and wigeon were 10 yards in front of us. Dog was pissed and then we had to wait a little bit for a few to filter back in and get these two. Fun morning none the less and cool new spot.
