How is the Late Season Goose Hunting?

Thu Dec 20, 2018 2:10 pm

In the past 2-weeks, I've only seen two small spreads of dekes in my area. Didn't hear a shot from either one. Low goose numbers flying around. Several dozen swans in the area and a few ducks.

I wonder how the Rochester hunting has been?

The late season started out decent. With the lack of snow and the up and down temperatures bird are very stale and unpredictable. There are still plenty of birds in the area. I would say above normal amounts of geese for this time of the year. Its looking the like the chance of getting 1 more hunt in snow is fading fast. Possibly on the last day of the season might have to try if we actually get snow.

Only seen about 100 geese at lqp. Other than that it's been weeks since I even heard a goose.

There were plenty of geese for the late season in central mn but the birds were very stale and hard to predict. That's a wrap for my 2018 waterfowl season. It sure would have been nice if this snow came a few days earlier but oh well.

With the 8" +- of snow across central MN, it makes me wonder if tonight on the NW wind they bogey to S. Mn area where there is no snow?
By next week i think many will be heading South out of MN as -20 predicted for metro on Wed AM.

As for this fall - how often is it that we don't get below zero temps in Nov or Dec in S. MN? In like Lion next week though....
