hunted april 13th-16th in northern Barnes county. temps very cold. little to no open water most days. two morning temps were 15 and 16 degrees without windchills. heavy N/NW/NE winds (>20mph). small to mod scattered pockets of snows. mostly Specks and lessers around. almost nothing moving in until weds pm. ended with 12 birds between 4 guys (3 ross, 9 snows). 3 of those adults. rough conditions. weather looks better this week for some potential juvie action.

Info on one of the bands was banded in 2004 as an adult in Churchill I believe. Other one my buddies said they are giving me so I'll call it in after I get it from my buddy.

Anybody going out this weekend? I'm tossing around the idea of going to ND this afternoon or at 3AM tomorrow.

I think I'm going to do it...I'll be solo most likely starting in the SE corner of ND. If anyone is going out and wants to possibly hook up, let me know.

If anyone has any tips on where to look let me know. Found a feed of about 2k and saw several small flocks in the air by 7:15, but now the sun disappeared, little harder to see anything flying. Just north of SD border right now.

I'd go right back to the 2k feed

If they're going more than 1/4 mile from their roost it could be perfect

Don't waste your time and gas money scouting in the middle of the day this time of year

Unfortunately is was a black field with no veg and 100 yards off a lake...probably the roost. I've seen a small group here and there but not much...just trying to drive by water bodies where they may be sitting. Heading back to the area with the 2k I saw and see if more come out of the woodwork...if not I'm heading home. Did talk with a local and 2 of his friends are scouting tonight, said we could join forces if them or myself find something.
