Your New Decoy Pick Would Be.......?

Wed Sep 14, 2016 9:03 am

With so many choices of paint schemes, material, foam filled vs not, magnum vs standard, etc. from which decoy company would you buy your next decoy from?

I picked up a dozen of the Avian X dekes in the Mallard Feeders and the Central Flyway combo (Gadwall & Widgeon). They seem to have decent color and I like the soft body material. Hopefully they will hold up when the ice comes.

RGII for field geese and BF for H2o geese.

G&H for duck for h2o and field.

As MM said, I've used them for many years now, so why bother with the fads?

But I will say that if I were to buy more duck decoys, Avian X would get a consideration.

FF has Promised special buy mallards, $50 per dozen.

Didn't break open a box to see the quality.

If I were to add production type blocks I'd go G&H or the cheapest plainest #'s blocks I could find.

I've had the Avian X mallard since they came out 3 or 4 years ago . . . super durable and real looking. I just toss them in a decoy bag. No need for 12 slot decoys or whatever.

I like foots and real geese for field hunting.

I want to replace the decoys on the lines with Homers. Otherwise I want to try out the avian decoys. Those ghg pro grades I bought last year are already flaking and getting rubbed. That's in slotted bags even. Not impressed.

That's too bad to hear. That's mostly what I run. I have some G&H and some other super old ones that were my grandpas and the rest are GHG. GHG have held up extremely well for me and I abuse my decoys. I do not own any newer versions though. All mine are 5-13 years old. The avian x decoys look nice but I haven't looked at decoys very close lately because I have more than I need.

Favorite duck decoy for water - Avian X
Favorite goose field - DOA
Favorite goose water - Bigfoot by far and away on this one. The bigfoot floaters are awesome I think.

I think the Avian X mallard fb's are awesome looking but have never tried because they are so dang expensive. a guy can get used GHG mallard fbs for pretty cheap now.
