E-Caller Battery.....Preferences?

Sat Feb 28, 2015 5:46 pm

There is always something newer, better, cheaper, lighter, etc. that we normally use.

Currently, I'm using my riding lawn mower battery to power my 300 watt amp with 4-speakers. The battery usually lasts 1 1/2 days, but is somewhat heavy.

Anyone using something else or have a better idea?

UB1280 sealed batteries and got rid of the big amps. Mini amps or smaller car stereo 50w x2 amps in my 5 e callers.

Thanks for the response. I'm pushing the larger amps because I run longer speaker wire to the speakers (30-50 ft). I'm of the opinion that when you run longer speaker wire, you need more amps to push it through. Currently, I'm running 4-50 watt speakers, one for each channel on the amp. I'm also considering running more than 1-speaker per channel.

I used to drag lawn mower batteries out. Got tired of the weight, which is why I rebuilt to more of a squawk box style e-caller. Still plenty loud, and I have 6 of my 8 horn speakers on 50' cords. My other 3 callers have 4" full range marine speakers built in to the caller box.
