Why is it at Gun Auctions People Go Crazy?

I was at the Lampi Sportsman Action in Annandale this morning, which auctioned over 200 guns. Most of the people there looked normal, but when the auctioneer started with the bidding, they completely lost their minds.

For instance, a used Remington 870, 12 gauge, synthetic stock went for $270.00! A used Remington 597, .22 sold for $150.00. Older J.C. Higgins, Marlin, Savage and Sears guns were sold at ridiculous prices as well.

Is this the norm at these auctions or am I just out of touch with today's prices?

I go to an auction house that has frequent firearms sales...you'd think Sandy hook was 2 months ago the way guns sell there. I consigned 50 gen2 30 round Pmags a month ago and got $17 a piece for them. Bought them for $8.99 a piece. A few marlin 22's that I had on the sale went for over retail. People definitely get stupid at these sales. S&W revolvers, AR's, and over/unders are still going for stupid money at auctions.

Put a scope and ex mag on a sks, put it to auction and collect bank. You'll be amazed what you'll get.

And the crappy yugo SKS' at that...
Speaking of SKS, I finally saw an FFL working at an auction deny consignment on 2 bubba'd up SKS because of the 922r law.
