Buying shells

Fri Aug 25, 2017 10:48 am

Cabin Fever is loaded with Fiocchi. Not much else here, yet. Jeff wasn't in and counter guy was not able to offer insight into what was coming.

Was looking for the Hevi X. They have done I'll stock Hevi-Metal, so maybe....

$1.50-$2.00 more per box in Fasteel, but that looked to be last year left overs.

Soon itchy finger, soon.....

Have you tried Fiochhi shells? I haven't and don't know much about them.

No. I doubt I will.

Fasteel at Fleet Farm is $14.xx a box, @ Cabin Fever $16.99

I'm certain there are different grades of Fiocchi, but to me it seems they set up on a Winchester model with cheap, better, but no best. Maybe the Blind Side is their best, but when I shot I didn't notice anything special. Didn't shoot a lot, just felt like it was a gimmick to compete with black cloud.

I'd be more inclined to shoot Federal, but miss the "RedBox".

Really want to try the Hevi X. No one has apparently seen a spec sheet on. It yet, but it's supposed to be pushing close to 10grams per cubic centimeter at 1460 fps.

That weight is a tick more than Bismuth at a comparable price, and half the cost of tungsten.

Supposedly, Bismuth has come a long way since the days of pellets not holding together, The Kent Bismuth online at Cabela's is on sale, might pick up a box, but I hate thinking about shopping there.

Anyone shop Joe's for shells? Maybe Reed's?

Christ!!! What year was that produced?

Whatever, @ $12.99 a box I might buy a case to use and keep in silage for juniors "missing" days!

Texted bro-inlaw, his Junior is lighting up YWD, might her the 2 case special!

Which reminds me: Cabin Fever used to have Fasteel 1 1/4, now they have 1 1/8.

I always liked the 1 1/4 better. Not a lot more pellets but always seemed to provide that extra "one".

Miss the days I bought in case load. Junior is 9. Hopefully he takes his interest to habit. But the little bastard plays football and basketball!
