Thoughts on a red dot for it?

Edit:

Only reason I ask about this is for close range varmint shooting in/around our barns, quite often at night.

If you're going to stretch distance at all with it and dial any..... look at SWFA's SS scopes. They'll far outperform leupold, vortex, nikon, etc... All of those have great warranties, and all get heavily used. There's surprisingly not alot of reliable scopes out there to spin with and unless youre thinking about jumping up to a NF, SWFA are going to be the most economical. I can't say enough good things about them. I would think their 6x42 mil/mil would be a ridiculously fun scope on your 10/22

If you go variable, don't consider anything other than FFP

Receiver is at the FFL. I just got my permit to purchase in the mail yesterday so haven't picked it up yet.

Got the bolt assembly, pins, bolt buffer and V block.

Almost ordered the BX trigger today so will do that soon.

I know what stock I want and pretty sure on the barrel just haven't ordered them yet.

I'll likely disappoint you guys on my optics selection but I think i'm going to stick with the Nikon. I can always change it out down the road.

Would I be mad going red dot route? Never shot one before so not sure what it's like past, say 75 yards.

I had one on an AR for a while. Could hit a steel plate at 200 yards, that was the farthest I shot with it. Not sure what your going to use .22 for?

So far you've ordered parts but are assembling them into basically a stock gun....still stuck on the optics.

Could bought a stock 10/22 and put a 3-9 on it and been done.

Sure I could have. But I would have spent over $250 for something I didn't want. That was literally my debate in the beginning.

Will I have spent more than buying a stock gun? Sure did. Did I get exactly what I want out of the gun when I haven't seen a single gun like it to buy straight up? Sure did. That's the beauty and reason I went with this gun. I can change anything and everything as I please.

Wasn't a gun out there with the stock I wanted, bull barrel and better trigger. If I was going to replace all of that, why buy stock.
