Anyone Try Some New Ammo This Year?

I was always going to get around to try out Kent's new Silver Steel, but never got around to it. I'll probably pick up a box this winter and try it on paper. Otherwise I stuck with Black Cloud again this season...no complaints!

Oh, I did try out some Winchester copper-plated pheasant loads. So far, I'm impressed. Good patterns with a Wad Wizard choke tube.

Post up if you tried something new or different and how you liked it.

I shot kent fast steel this year and had no complaints. I shoot a mossberg maverick 88 with a stock mod choke. I had no cripples. Everything seemed dead when it hit the water. I plan on patterning my gun this spring and seeing what the paper looks like.

Shot 12 rounds of 15+ year old T shot. Every bird I shot at was a miss or cripple.

Shot some 2 3/4" #6 for teal. Killed em dead, shots were on a small pond around 15 yards. Lots of pellets in the meat. Buddy chipped a tooth.

I'm also very intersted in the Kent silver steel.

I also haven't shot any Hevi Metal or Blind side yet. Price doesn't seem worth it.

I bought a case of Hevi Metal #3. I can't say it worked any better than any other. I think the problem is the guy holding the gun.

Are you using the close range stuff? I tried a box of 3.5" #2 (the regular stuff) a few years ago. It patterned too tight for me and kicked like a mule.

I've always shot Kents and been happy. I couldn't find them at a reasonable price this year so I got some Fiocchis and I was pretty impressed. I shoot a SBEII but I haven't patterned the Fiocchi's yet.

No Bill, I was using left over Snow Goose # 2. Typically I use regular Black Cloud # 3.
