S.N.A.F.U.s 2017

Fri Nov 03, 2017 10:18 am

This year started out pretty good....no issues with the boat or motor. However, that all changed yesterday. I tried starting the motor just after launching the boat and it wouldn't start. The recoil pull was extremely easy for some reason. I had a sick feeling that the main shaft had broken. So, back on the trailer and home we go. I pulled off the recoil assembly and luckily found just a broken, plastic starter pawl. The local marine dealer in Rosemount had one on hand for a whopping price of $6.42. Two minutes later, the problem was fixed. Thank god this pawl didn't break out on the lake. I should write and complain to Evinrude that their plastic pawls should last more than 29-years.
