Looking to add a layout boat to the duck hunting arsenal. I already have a 6.5hp Powell Performance mm. So I was looking around on internet and a seen some double end layouts with homemade transom mounts, Has anyone ever done this or have any input

New to the whole layout boat thing so any advice on anything about would be fine by me.

try a google search for Kara Hummer.... the original is a double ender and I think a bunch have been customized, to the point that a lot of hobby guys are going square stern.

Search for hybrid layout or sneak boat of you want free plans to make your own. Otherwise depending on your budget I hear 4 rivers is kinda the king if you are using a mud motor

I know of two Carsten Pintails that I can get my hands on for pretty cheap. That is why I was asking about putting a transom on for a mm on a double end.

The more I read up on layouts it would be fun to build one...... Or buy a new 4rivers or Momarsh

The Carstens I've been in, I don't think I would want to be standing in using a mud motor. They are fairly stable, but not that stable.

If you were willing to wait till the water is a little softer I'd have no problem letting you see mine and test it out. It's a Carsten teal so not quite the same as the pintails

yeah that would be great!! What's the teal like? Is a older model, as I don't see it on there website. A canvasback would be right up my alley tho.

I don't have my heart set on a pintail or even a Carstens, I just happen to know someone that has a couple so I thought if they would be decent for what I want to do I would buy em

It's an older model. Pretty close to the current pintail. It's about 11ft long and 80lbs. No seat in it though. Also the bottom is squared edges not rolled.
