S.N.A.F.U.s This Year.....

First it was the throttle handle. It literally exploded in my hand, coming apart in numerous pieces. I suppose that the plastics on this 26-year old Evinrude had become brittle. About $130.00 later, I'm back in business.

Next it was the choke/primer knob. It broke in half. Thank God for J.B. Plastic Weld and a small piece of plastic tubing. So far, it is holding, but a new knob is being shipped.

Anyone else having "fun" this year with their boats/motors?

The one time I had the motor on the boat it ran great, then it didn't, then it did. I gave up. Not enough time left for me hunting this season to give a rip at this point.

Been a pretty decent walk-in year for me, will stick with that....

I had that once, ended being a head gasket. If it sat long enough it would dry out in the cylinder and fire right for a day then the next it would run like crap again.

Well, that S.O.B. Mr. Murphy (aka bad luck) was at it again. This time I bent the axle tube assembly and broke a leaf spring on the boat trailer. Got it all apart, now just waiting for parts. Any how was your day?

Or whoever uses a trolling motor with a bad seal in freezing weather sucks too.

Funniest SNAFU was watching the goose guide jump out of the boat thinking he was in shallow water. Choice words were spoken when he discovered it was up to his neck and he struggled to get back in the rowboat.

Finally got the parts from the Shorlander factory; 1-axel tube assembly, 1-leaf spring, 1-leaf spring bracket, 2-axel sleeves, and 2-grease seals. For $182.00 it is a new trailer again.

I realize that it takes time to ship parts, but at almost 50-days, that was disappointing.
