Beavertail 1200/2000

Mon Dec 30, 2013 1:21 pm

Has anyone ever used one of these?

If you have how was it? As stable as they claim?

I was just browsing around looking for something I could drag in to a little public area by myself or with a buddy.

I would maybe look into Hell Bender boats, if you are wanting to drag it by yourself. His boats are considerably lighter.

Most of the time I will be with another guy and if I am by myself I figured I could rig up a cart to clamp on the back and make it easier to pull in.

Are they as stable as these claim to be?

I can not say I own one, but I have not heard a bad review about them. I have been really wanting one for a while, just have not had the extra money. Just wanted to point out another option, especially if you wanted to drag it by yourself. If you look on craigslist often, I see all different kinds of boats like the beavertails that go for a pretty good price. Just an example: http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/b ... 76013.html

I've been looking at craigslist for a while just looking around that's where I first found the beavertail and also have seen that ad just don't have time to make it up to the cities anymore ( from Mankato area)

You want me to take a look at that boat for you? It's just across the river from me. I saw that add as well but it looks like it wouldn't be any lighter than a stealth and I think those would be more stable just because of design

Find a light weight (light gauge aluminum) ten foot John boat. The one I had could be drug in a long long ways by one person. Could actually carry over my head for sort distances if needing to get it over obstacles.

If dragging sounds to hard I think cabelas has a wheel setup for canoes that could be modified or make something similar to that.

Thanks for the tip gimp! That was another thing I was going to say if either needs to go sideways easily or over my head easy. I'll look for one of those, how much would a guy look to spend on a decent one?
