Lymes

Wed Jun 23, 2021 2:57 pm

Anyone know what the treatment involves with treating a dog with lymes? Just got the call from the vet saying my 12 to lab has lymes and I need to pick up a prescription and start him on antibiotics. I'm halfway to the lake with him so I need to swing in on Monday and talk to the vet.

I guess this explains the hair loss, weak back legs and non stop water drinking and pissing. Hasn't been out hunting for 2 season and I think he got it in March. Only thing I can think of is there was a mamma doe and her trips hanging out in the middle of town by the house and he picked a tick up from one of them.

Doxycycline. Have your vet send the Rx to a pharmacy wherever you’re headed.

Why the F would you delay treatment on that $h!t?

Well it's going to be Monday or Tuesday before the meds get formulated. This dog isn't a dog you can get 5 pills down twice a day. He's learned to cheek pills and spit them out 5-10 minutes later. So we have to have some made so it's just 1 pill twice a day. 20 extra bucks to have them formulate pills.

Still waiting on the vet to get the meds.

Poor dog was at the lake all weekend and he couldn't walk in the water because his back legs are so weak.

I will say on thing is this new vet in town here gives a chit unlike the old one. She has called every other day to see how he is feeling.

She isn't bad on the eyes either.
