Anybody ever shot a swan? (where legal of course) How did you hunt for it? and pics. I have not, but my buddies had tags on this ND field hunt. They were just passing over the field very low.
just FYI. tag lottery for nodak swans is due by august 13th. 30$ this year. they are pretty easy to get. we have a pair of swan decoys and have used them with limited success in the right areas. otherwise just get near a spot where there is a big roost and hope your in the flight path. they don't always fly the highest. you just never know when a flock will come over you in nodak. sometimes they are pretty thick. they come out of the sky like malaysian airliners.
Tried to fill my SD tag last fall by sneaking on a neck collared adult. Got within 70ish yards, could have swatted the juvies at 30 but the collar eluded me.

Jumpem with the wind at your back. They have to take off into the wind and it takes them along time to get air borne.

Hands down, without a doubt, the best tasting waterfowl.
