I never figured you to be such a die-hard grouse hunter. I should have known your passion for ruffs is even more than for waterfowl.

Oh ask him about the grouse hunting back in '64. It was incredible. But way back in the day his dad and grandpa used to drive a model A and shoot 16gauge model 12's (that they inaccurately called their "Sweet 16's"), and just pile up the grouse like cordwood. But habitat destruction and something about the Dakotas has ruined MN grouse hunting forever.

Well.... this shouldn't' be a surprise:

1) More land accessible to grouse hunting than pheasant hunting

2) No stamps, etc.

3) No hen/drake requirement

4) Grouse habitat likely has higher population, and if not, definitely has wayyyy more people on weekends than pheasant habitat due to wooded lake lands.

So, it would seem, if you INCREASE opportunity you increase the number of people doing that certain thing. I'd also bet that the lost pheasant hunters are also grouse hunters.... don't need boats, waders, decoys and being set-up by the ass crack of dawn.

Counting flushes? Why you letting them get that far?
