Is there anything MWA is for? Other than duck hugging?

They're just pissed that duck hunters will be adding more to the coffers, and they won't see any of it.

The MWA as an association really needs to fold up shop...do us all a favor!

They simply "oppose" anything that doesn't directly benefit them as a group or as the 4 individuals that is the MWA.

X2. Just what have they done in the past several years to benefit duck hunters?

In all fairness, it is pretty retarded that the money will only be towards easements

Kinda get it but....

How much private land in the heart of Minnesota's duck country even has "good" land to work with? There's not many areas in this state we haven't waterfowl hunted and except for that rare chunk of good private water, it is already heavily managed and locked up tight. Would really like to see what they are going to do with the extra cash in hand and if it will equal boots and shovels on the ground?

If they are so opposed to it, start getting the ball rolling when the state stamp goes up and get that money ear marked for the wma's that are drastically under managed in this great state.

Sounds like a pretty awesome program to me. The government will pay to build you a private duck hunting paradise, you just have to provide the land. Anyone who doesn't take advantage of this is an idiot IMO. Ill definitely be telling the relatives at Christmas to buy some more land in order to enroll it, which will give me more private land to hunt without dealing with the pukes who infest the public spots.

What's retarded about it?

Let's make it simple...

$150 going to NWR's, WPA's, etc. and existing and future private land easemnents.

Or

$250 with

$150 going to NWR's, WPA's, etc.
+
$100 going to existing and future private land easements.

Sounds like everyone loses.

1) dedicated funding is bad policy, but MWA lines it if it helps things they like.... they like public ground over private ground.

2) CRP contacts get canceled, etc. No one is staying the sloughs on public land. They're draining them on private.

3) MWA does not have enough of a voice to matter regardlesd

4) to stay relevant and meet their mission they should focus efforts on making the existing WMAs productive through an aggressive Adopt Public Lands initiative.

At some point the acquisition strategy is hobbled by ever decreasing opportunities. Coin has to stay going into making existing land more productive.

Semi annual burning/grazing, new species plantings for greater grassland diversity, and aggressive water/run off management will do more in MN than buying one more good forsaken dead ass slough that sucks so bad the government is the highest bidder.
