Very true. We would never ever want to try anything that works so well somewhere else. We have to walk our own path here and that also includes no TEAL SEASON!

This just pisses me off, because it's mostly true sarcasm.

It's amazing how a farmer can divert spring run off through tile. Then tap and drain aquifers through irrigation, with no thought or care about anything other than cash crop production.

Then someone talks about msm, or draining and filling wetlands to mimic natural cycles, and everyone starts panicking about how we are altering the natural landscape, WTF!?

Where the hockey pucks is there a "natural" landscape left in mn?

With the ditches, rivers and creeks we are blessed with in mn, there's only a few areas msm wouldn't work imo, if done with a tiny bit of ingenuity.

The one out by marsh when they first did it worked out so poorly for attracting ducks, they made it into a farking refuge, why?

BECAUSE IT ATTRACTED DUCKS, DUMB A$$!

It can and does work!

If MN never builds any public units it will reward the private landowners that choose to put in msm to attract waterfowl. It will make their areas better and will continue to allow 5% to shoot 90% of the birds

Can water be legally drawn from ponds and rivers to flood these areas?

I know of 2 MSM that provide awesome hunting in North Central MN, not exactly duck hot spots. It works, you provide the food on a large scale and it will work. The MN DNR doesn't have the vision. They want to "restore" mud holes instead.

What's funny is the quote from Jim Cox:

"It looks like an expensive Band-Aid; that's how most (council members) looked at it," said Jim Cox, a council member and former president of the Minnesota Waterfowl Association.

But the 2.5 million we have dumped into lake Christina is fine, what a doofus.

I know little about the MWA. Who runs the place and are they self appointed, supreme ruler and chancellor?

The name is not: Minnesota WATERFOWLERS Association

Shawn can yank this if he's sees fit, but since it's on topic and I don't think he's naive regarding the nature of the internet....

It appears in many places MSM is considered habitat. Whole conversations going on by guys with dams, dykes, pumps, and getting funding for it: http://refugeforums.com/refuge/forums/habitat-forum.69/
