I wasn't trying to insinuate that it isn't a wolf kill although I can see how my post would be taken that way. Claiming to know the cause of death of a deer based on a picture would be as silly as trying to claim to know the quality of a pelt based on a picture.
A wolf kill seems like the most likely explanation assuming it wasn't sick or injured. There are definitely plenty of reasons the wolves may have left it that way without finishing it.
My uneducated response was based on coming upon several wolf kills and first hand accounts of people I know who have seen a pack reduce a deer or dog to scraps in a matter of a few minutes.
