While you poor bastards were fishing walleyes in the rain.and snow we were shrimpin in 65 degree weather and glass calm seas not often am I able to go 34mph across the water

Nice toes. What do you bait them with? How does it work? Looks like nalgeine bottles. I’d like to try to trap some rusties on vermilion this summer.

We avoided the rain and snow on opener. Fishing was off the charts. Tons of doubles and triples and easily broke triple digits for the weekend. All the fish were caught in 2-8 feet of water. Sunrise pic as we were leaving the lake. When the sun came up it revealed all the aftermath from the excited males. Looked like a porn scene.

We use shrimp pellets cured salmon eggs and salmon flavored cat food all mashed up in the nalgene. Got about 40 holes drilled into the bottles. Pots are on 875' of line. Can use 3 pots and have them spaced out 75' from each other on the main line We have been dropping the first pot in 500' and motor towards shore and drop the other 2. Steep deep and rocky is what we look for. Just started shrimping this year out of whittier and it takes some time to figure it out and how to deal with 875' of line with out it tangling up but it's been fun. Hopefully get out once more next weekend then taking the boat to homer for the summer

I'm sure the bait smells great. Are you able to fish deep enough for crabs?

Ya tried in homer a couple times bit it opens in September so only have a month before I like to have the boat home so I sont have to pull it through the mountains on snow ice roads. We didnt get any one time and the other time I would have done great but a fuxking octopus got in our pot and ate the crabs. When we pulled it up it was still in there and there was crab shells everywhere. Probably try for some while we sea duck hunt out of whittier this year. With my set up i can fish about 650 feet of water. Hoping to get an good weekend in october and drop the crab pot and go try to shoot ducks and deer one weekend.
