Fowler you put a lot of those things right in front of park benches? That thing is a bit of an eye sore. Right in the way of the view of the water.

Great that many hatched but just curious how many will die from the elements? Isn't it super super early?

What are you talking about Willis? They lay eggs when they are ready. Most hatch in May and June. Cold days after they jump can effect survival of ducklings, just like any duck species, due to lack of insects and macro invertebrates to feed on if cold temps.

Ya think? I do checks/maintenance and everything is from last year when I start in Dec and go thru March.

That box was up BEFORE the park bench was installed. AND there used to be all brush between the trail and the box - but they cleared out the brush last year. Shit happens. The reason why I originally choose the specific location is that it was an open spot along the shoreline, open enough that squirrels could not jump to the box from the trees.

I have been trying to smoke them but the damn things are tough to get lit.

We smoked a bunch salmon and herring that we got through the ice this winter. I brought these ones over to cook up for a bunch of friends. They brought the beverages and I brought dinner. Not a bad trade.

How long was it ?? Looks like a good one.......the guy I bought my shop from years ago , his Dad moved from here and lived on the Rainy River , he brought smoked Sturgeon when he would come back down here to visit and was it GOOD!!!!

60 incher or so. Not the easiest fish to measure. They are pure muscle. Got a couple mid50’s too. First time targeting them and did pretty decent yesterday.
