Tasted like smoke trout I guess. Just dont think I am a fan of it any more after living off them in college in ely and having lots of salmon in the freezer. Even tried smoking a laker from up here and just didjt think it was great. I am sure it's just me cooking it shitty though.

Alaskan salmon will spoil a guy. I wouldn’t mess with trout either if I lived up there. I am fortunate to get stocked up on salmon by my buddy each year. I don’t eat much trout anymore other a few splake or browns out of superior each year.

I went to Michigan with a buddy last summer and we kept a bunch of kings and coho and it was straight awful. I gave all of it away.

My uncle and his buddy came up last year and brought back a pile of reds to mn. Uncle says he isnt fishing the big lakes for those fake salmon any more.

I thought farm raised Atlantic had better flavor than the Kings and Coho I caught in Lake MI. Started smoking all the lk MI salmon. Actually, for smoking I preferred lk MI Lake Trout over the salmon. In the NWT we used to fry Lake Trout and they were pretty tasty.
