My dad has a 2000 so I was gunna shoot that and see how it feels. Are the 2000 and the 3000 close in fit? How is the kick on the 3000 compared to a pump? I'm just trying to see if it's worth the extra couple hundred over a new pump.

I know I've said this I bet 20 times over the years on various hunting sites, but it is worth repeating:
You can have a $200 gun and if it fits you well, you will shoot well. And you can have a $2000 gun, but if it does not fit you well, you will shoot poorly.

So fit shout be the 1st priority. Make sure it fits you, and you will not regret it. FYI - some models of guns have shimms (adjustable) for cast and drop.

And this comes from a guy where 90+% of the guns do not fit me well. At least 2/3 of the guns I see 1" of vent rib plane when I shoulder it--and thus would fire way high on crossing birds.

I understand what your saying fowler. My first gun was an 870 express 20ga. I loved that gun. Fit me well and I could shoot really well with it. I sold it because I had bills to pay and I already had my mossberg. It doesn't fit me as well and it kicks pretty good. But I can shoot ok with it. I've never had a problem but I have always kind of disliked it due to the fit. I did shorten the pull and that helped. I am just looking for what would be in my price range so I know what to look at. Also I don't want to end up being a guinea pig on a cheap new gun that doesn't have the kinks worked out of it yet.

hey guys, what was that Russian made knock off of a Bennelli (inertia action semi-auto) about 5-10 years back? I think Remington may have imported them. I heard many satisfied reports on it, and they were like $500 new. I know that they do not make them anymore, but a used one is an option.

Remington SPR453 is the same as Baikal MP153

They are not easy to find. My wife's gun is a SPR 453. It is a heavier gun but the recoil is not as bad that way. It is not inertia though. They have an adjustable gas system. Lots of rounds have gone through that gun the past few years and I can not remember having a problem with it. I have not tried to adjust it to shoot lighter loads though. Just left it at the factory setting because only waterfowl loads have been used in it.

I'm open to just about anything. I'm just trying to see what reliable guns are in my price range new or used. I'm kind of leaning towards the Stoeger M3000.

That's the one, thanks!

You know why they are hard to find? They are reliable and so people keep them. They also make for a good back up gun too.

Ended up getting done with work a little early yesterday and swung into a local sporting goods store only to find one on the used gun rack. I got a heck of a deal on it. I told my wife it was my 10 day old daughters first gun.
